A Fast and Deadly Gift

A husband was in big trouble when he forgot his wedding anniversary.

His wife told him "Tomorrow there better be something in the driveway for me that goes zero to 200 in 2 seconds flat".

The next morning the wife found a small package in the driveway.

She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale.

Funeral arrangements for the husband have been set for Saturday.

Good day in church today. My sermon was on "The Importance of Purity." Study the outline on our church website front page: http://thelordsbaptistchurch.com/

There is a new page on our website called "Click and Listen." Check it out.

Tomorrow is New Years Eve. I hope this has been a good year for you and that next year will be even better. We are looking forward to the special services at TLBC in January to celebrate our 28th anniversary as a church. More to come about that. I plan to start the new year with a change in business strategy for my retirement supplemental home business and focus more of my effort on promoting LFI and C4L.

Around the corner

Around the corner I have a friend,
In this great city that has no end,
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year is gone.
And I never see my old friends face,
For life is a swift and terrible race,
He knows I like him just as well,
As in the days when I rang his bell.
And he rang mine but we were younger then,
And now we are busy, tired men.

Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.
"Tomorrow" I say! "I will call on him
Just to show that I'm thinking of him"
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
And distance between us grows and grows.

Around the corner, yet miles away,
"Here's a telegram sir," "He died today."
And that's what we get and deserve in the end.
Around the corner, a vanished friend.

Remember to always say what you mean.
If you love someone, tell them.
Don't be afraid to express yourself.
Reach out and tell someone what they mean to you.
Because when you decide that it is the right time
it might be too late.

Seize the day.
Never have regrets.
And most importantly,
stay close to your friends and family, for they have helped
make you the person that you are today.

I am so thankful for Mom, Maxine and MARION.
It was good to see them at prayer meeting tonight.
I read newsletters from Missionaries in Australia,
Mexico, Tupalo, and Russia. We prayed for our
Missionaries in the Philippines and in Ireland and for
the pending trip to the Ukraine in 08 and also for sister
Tina Graber. Other mission fields on our heart were
Papau New Guinea, Honduras, and Romania.
We are praying for our meeting in January and the
speaker, Garner Smith. We need a true REVIVAL.

I've seen a lot of friends and loved ones over the
holiday period and my heart weeps for them and the
numbness they have in regard to spiritual things.
I wish I were more effectual in speaking the truth to
them in love. I PRAY that God would mercifully
intervene in their lives. I love them so much but
I cannot do for them what they must do for
themselves by the enabling power of the sovereign
grace of Almighty God.

Don't Quit

The Concert

When the house lights dimmed and the concert
was about to begin, the mother returned to
her seat and discovered that the child was missing. Suddenly, the curtains parted and spotlights
focused on the impressive Steinway on stage.
In horror, the mother saw her littleboy sitting at the keyboard, innocently picking out
"Twinkle,Twinkle Little Star."
At that moment, the great piano master made his entrance, quickly moved to the piano, and
whispered in the boy's ear,
"Don't quit.""Keep playing."
Then, leaning over, Paderewski reached
down with his left hand and began filling
in a bass part. Soon his right arm reached
around to the other side of the child,
and he added a running obbligato.
Together, the old master and the young novice
transformed what could have been a frightening situation into a wonderfully creative experience.
The audience was so mesmerized that they couldn't recall what else the great master played.
Only the classic,
" Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star."
Perhaps that's the way it is with God.
What we can accomplish onour own is hardly noteworthy.
We try our best, but the results aren't always
graceful flowing music. However, with the
hand of the Master, our life's
work can truly be beautiful. The next time you set out to accomplish great feats,
listen carefully. You may hear the voice of the
Master, whispering in your ear, "Don't quit." "Keep playing."
May you feel His arms around you and
know that His hands are there, helping you
turn your feeble attempts into true masterpieces.
Remember, God doesn't seem to
call the equipped, rather, He equips the 'called.' Life is more accurately measured by the lives you touch than by the things you acquire. So touch someone by passing this little message along.May God bless you and be with you always!
and
remember ,
"Don't quit."
"Keep playing."

Attendance today at TLBC didn't make it out of the single digits but services were good. I preached on "A Four-Fold Proclamation of Praise" and the sermon outline is on the front page of our church wesite.

Kindergarten Question for you.

When asked this riddle, 80% of kindergarten kids got the answer, compared to 17% of Stanford University seniors. Where do YOU fit in on this scale of intelligence? Here is the question.

What is greater than God, More evil than the devil, The poor have it, The rich need it, And if you eat it, you'll die?
The answer, if you need to look, is found below (***).

Very low attendance today in church. I can't figure out why it is so hard to get people to attend our worship services. None-the-less, we refuse to fall in with the crowd that only offers religious entertainment that only pacifies the carnal appetite of the flesh. My sermon today was called "Let Us Praise The Lord." Ode to America

Read this excerpt from a Romanian Newspaper. The article was written by Mr. Cornel Nistorescu and published under the title 'C'ntarea Americii, meaning 'Ode To America ') in the Romanian newspaper Evenimentulzilei 'The Daily Event' or 'News of the Day'

~An Ode to America ~

Why are Americans so united? They would not resemble one another even if you painted them all one color! They speak all the languages of the world and form an astonishing mixture of civilizations and religious beliefs. Still, the American tragedy turned three hundred million people into a hand put on the heart.

Nobody rushed to accuse the White House, the Army, or the Secret Service that they are only a bunch of losers. Nobody rushed to empty their bank accounts. Nobody rushed out onto the streets nearby to gape about. Instead the Americans volunteered to donate blood and to give a helping hand. After the first moments of panic, they raised their flag over the smoking ruins, putting on T-shirts, caps and ties in the colors of the national flag. They placed flags on buildings and cars as if in every place and on every car a government official or the president was passing. On every occasion, they started singing:'God Bless America !'

I watched the live broadcast and rerun after rerun for hours listening to the story of the guy who went down one hundred floors with a woman in a wheelchair without knowing who she was, or of the Californian hockey player, who gave his life fighting with the terrorists and prevented the plane from hitting a target that could have killed other hundreds or thousands of people. How on earth were they able to re spond united as one human being? Imperceptibly, with every word and musical note, the memory of some turned into a modern myth of tragic heroes. And with every phone call, millions and millions of dollars were put into a collection aimed at rewarding not a man or a family, but a spirit, which no money can buy.

What on earth can unite the Americans in such a way? Their land? Their history? Their economic Power? Money? I tried for hours to find an answer, humming songs and murmuring phrases with the risk of sounding commonplace, I thought things over, I reached but only one conclusion... Only freedom can work such miracles.

Cornel Nistorescu

(This deserves to be passed around the internet forever.)

It took a person on the outside - looking in - to see what we take for granted !

GOD BLESS AMERICA ! !

Politics

Good one, Sister! This cartoon character's name is Maxine and sometimes she reminds me of one of our faithful church members by the same name. She really knows how to make her Pastor's day. My sermon today was on "Keeping A Good Heart." Outline for the sermon is on the front page of our church website as usual. Click here: http://thelordsbaptistchurch.com

The Beacon of Truth went out this morning on KLAY 1180AM here locally. I pray that God is pleased to use it. Our program comes on right after the "Horse Racing Report". :) My theme this month on The Beacon of Truth is "The Incarnation."

My trip to the Ukraine looks like it is going to be delayed once again due to medical complications with brother Alex Zazhitko and his family and for arrangements with his boss at work for time off during my visit, That is OK. I only want to go there when our sovereign God wants me to go. Amen?

The SPECIAL 28th Anniversary services at TLBC are still a go. Brother and sister Smith have their tickets now and services at TLBC will be nightly at 7PM from Januarty 24th through January 30th except for Sunday when normal service times will prevail.

I've been thinking a lot lately about my retirement supplemental home business and may do some re-stratigizing after the new year. I'm thinking of concentrating my marketing more on the primary LFI biz. More to come.
