Help rally pro-family voters to the polls!

Dear Larry,

Every election is important. But if you’re concerned about faith and family, the 2014 midterms are shaping up to be critical.

You and I have what could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity this November to restore a family-friendly majority to the U.S. Senate.

Your gift today could help decide the outcome of 8 key Senate races.

As you read this, CitizenLink is putting a detailed plan into action to rally 1 million voters to the polls. We’ve identified these voters as strong, pro-family conservatives. They live in the 8 key states where the battle for the Senate will be fought the hardest.

I believe these voters share your values and want to see our nation return to her godly heritage. They could be enough to tip the balance in the midterms. But in past elections, these 1 million voters haven’t always shown up on Election Day.

CitizenLink can change that. But we need your help.

Each $2.80 you give will reach one pro-family conservative and motivate them to vote in this year’s crucial midterms.

Your support today will:
  • Put boots on the ground in key states like Louisiana, North Carolina and West Virginia - all of which are must-win states that will decide control of the Senate.
  • Get the facts about where the candidates stand into the hands of pro-family voters in those states, so they can make informed decisions about which candidates to support.
  • Mobilize pastors and churches to urge believers across the country to do their duty as biblical citizens - including the most basic duty of all, to vote.
  • Launch a massive Election Day outreach that will use mail, phone, door-to-door canvassing, email, and social and online media to maximize the pro-family vote.
Please give today for victory in November.

Remember, every $2.80 you give will rally one more pro-family conservative to the polls. And that’s one more vote for the values that really matter to you.

Thank you for helping today!

For Faith and Family,

Tom Minnery

Yes on 591

In case you haven’t figured it out yet, you’re sitting on ground zero of the gun rights fight for the 2014 election.

Unfortunately, I come to you with bad news.

The coalition of former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s billionaire elitists and anti-Second Amendment Rights crusaders are beating us financially, and in the polls.

Documents obtained by our campaign indicate they’ve raised more than $2.7 million to fund the ballot initiative fight in Washington State to further erode our right to keep and bear arms.

Our campaign has raised under $800,000 so far.

We’re losing ground.

But you can solve that by doing just a few small things. Here’s a small list of important actions we all need to keep repeating through the election this November.
  1. Tell your friends, family, re-post and re-email
Recruitment is a top priority of any campaign or political movement. We’re still finding people out there that either don’t know what’s going on, or don’t know what they can do. Please forward this e-mail to your friends and family. The more we increase our numbers and awareness, the better chance we have at winning.
  1. Register to vote at your current address
Yes, we’re still finding people that aren’t registered to vote or haven’t voted for a long time. If you didn’t get a primary ballot in the mail in the last couple of weeks, you are not registered to vote at your current address. You can register online now via the Washington Secretary of State website. It’s too late to vote in the primary if you’re not registered. But if you register immediately you will be able to vote on the ballot initiatives this November. Also, make sure your friends and family are registered to vote as well. It’s our right and a civic duty.
  1. Offer to help with a campaign event or fundraiser
Contact us and let us know if you’ve got access to a unique venue or place we could meet to hold campaign events.
  1. Make a contribution and volunteer
If you’ve already contributed and signed up to volunteer, thank you. Gun owners statewide and nationwide owe you a debt of gratitude. If Bloomberg and the rest of the anti-gunners are successful at stopping us here and rolling back our rights, they’ll do it in other states as well. As the campaign heats up, we’ll need as much help as we can get!
  1. Endorse
If you know a group, civic organization, or elected official (current or former) that hasn’t endorsed Initiative 591 yet, please encourage them to do so. There is an endorsement form on our website at the bottom of the endorsements page.
  1. Don’t get discouraged
We already know most of the mainstream media outlets won’t be on our side. That’s a given. Where we can make the most impact is in our own neighborhoods and community. If you want to distribute campaign materials, please contact us and we’ll make that happen.

In Freedom,

Freedom Update

Dear Larry,
Do you pay someone else for the privilege of having a job?
It seems an absurd question to ask in a supposedly free country, but the fact is that thousands of Washington workers are forced to make a choice every day between keeping their jobs and watching as their paychecks are docked to support candidates and causes with whom they have a fundamental disagreement.
Todd Hausman is just such a person. As a Washington state teacher, his choices are:
  • join the teachers' union as a full-fledged member, paying full member dues;
  • write a slightly smaller check to the union every month as a "representation fee"; or,
  • go into another line of work.
The Freedom Foundation tells Hausman's story in a compelling new television ad produced by our communications staff and now airing in the Bellingham market. You can view the ad for yourself below.
We think Todd Hausman makes a persuasive case about the tyranny of the union machine that dominates Washington state politics and we're proud to tell his story. We have to, really, because we're the organization that will. But we can't do it without your help.
Please take a few moments to watch the ad and decide for yourself whether exposing the injustice being imposed on public employees like Hausman, not to mention the damage done to your paycheck as a taxpayer, are worth exposing and eliminating.
We think you'll agree a donation to the Freedom Foundation is an investment in liberty that pays an incalculable dividends.
Thank you for all you do and all you will continue to do.
For Freedom,
Tom McCabe, CEO
Freedom Foundation

Help us SHIFT WA back from the left.

Crazy liberals too often get away with putting their own agenda ahead of the citizens they represent.  The rhetoric coming from liberal candidates for the Washington State Legislature this year shows they are doubling down on their job-killing agenda.

How would you like to pay the price of a statewide $15 minimum wage, a $1.17 gas tax increase and an income tax? That's what we will all be doing if the liberals get their way.

SHIFT has made it our mission to expose the litany of assaults on Washingtonians that are outlined in the Washington State Democratic Party’s 2014 platform—the most jarring of them being the State Democrats relentless push toward a state income tax.

Despite the fact that a state income tax has been rejected by over 60% of the voters multiple times, Democratic candidates from all over Washington are running with the promise to draft the historically unpopular tax — voters be damned.

Help us fight the income tax with a contribution of $3 or more. We need your support.

Our ability to expose the liberal agenda and grow an army of volunteers ready to fight rests entirely with our readers.

When it comes to an issue as serious as this one, the need is even greater to get the word out to our friends and neighbors across the state about the aggressive liberal tax agenda.

Join the fight by making a financial contribution right away. We are entirely dependent upon the support of concerned conservatives like you.

Please consider making an important end-of-month contribution so together, we can SHIFT Washington in a better direction.

All the best,

- Josh, Matthew, Alyssa and the rest of the SHIFT WA team

Team —

Did you survive last week?

Thanks to our friends at WSDOT, traffic in Seattle came to a grinding halt while they narrowed I-90 to one lane. Naturally, they refused to reduce tolls on SR-520 to encourage some drivers to reroute. Check out some of the scenarios that could have alleviated the gridlock without causing the state to fail to cover their weekly debt payment for the 520 expansion.

To make matters worse, in the middle of the week President Obama decided to make an afternoon "ATM stop" with events in Seattle AND Medina. He was on the ground for just a few hours, but was able to further snarl traffic with an afternoon closure of 520 so he could get between events. He was raising money for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Senate Majority PAC, one super-PAC that President Obama is apparently okay with.

One can only presume Air Force One flew over the massive wildfire raging in Central Washington. After it landed, President Obama took Governor Inslee in his motorcade to the fundraisers, where Inslee was able to convince Obama to push his extreme climate change message. Obama claimed that the fires were caused by drought and precipitation patterns that resulted from climate change. No doubt, this fear-mongering was to appease California billionaire Tom Steyer, a mega-donor who has put millions into Washington state elections and will possibly do it again.

The other big news of the week is that four-term state representative Roger Goodman (D-45) has issues with viewing pornography on his government-issued computer and doesn't pay his court-ordered child support. This comes on top of the allegations of his then-wife that Goodman - an outspoken marijuana proponent - drove his children while under the influence.

We found it particularly unnerving that Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) named Goodman one of their "Legislative Champions" despite the allegations of impaired driving.

One lesson is this: If you're going to look at porn on your government computer, drive your kids stoned and refuse to pay child support... perhaps you shouldn't be in a position writing our laws. We'll leave that up to the good voters of the 45th District to decide.

We covered a lot more stories this week and you can read some of the more popular stories from last week below.

If you appreciate the work we do at SHIFT, please consider making an end-of-month contribution to help us cover our various expenses - paying our researchers, writers, website costs and online advertising.

Please give $5, $25, $50 or more to help ensure we can keep covering the stories that the mainstream media won't.

Best,

Matthew, Josh, Alyssa and the rest of the Shift WA team

Not My Boss's Business: Ensuring Contraceptive Coverage in the Aftermath of Disastrous Hobby Lobby Supreme Court Ruling.

Not My Boss's Business quote

Yep.  Think about what you are saying Patty.  Think.  Since it is NOT the Boss's business, why in the world would you want  to mandate that the Boss's MUST pay for contraceptives on demand in addition to abortion on demand???

Patty, don't you understand that the SCOTUS decision on the "Hobby Lobby" case was NOT about individual women's rights but about American Religious Liberty in general?  There is no need for the governmental central powers to insure contraceptive coverage to anyone.  For crying out loud, Patty.  Get a grip!  Contraceptives are freely available on almost every other corner on the main streets of our towns and cities.  Why in the world are you throwing such a hiss-fit on this thing?  YOU are going to ensure that women have the ability to make their decisions about their own health care?  GREAT!  REPEAL the Affordable Care act (so-called) for starters.  It is not affordable for our Nation and in many cases it does NOT give the care many of us already had at a better price.  GET OUT OF HERE.  Please!

Central American Politicians see the problem but not D.C.

Central American President blames U.S. policy for border surge, but politicians in Washington ignore.

It's amazing how leaders from other countries can clearly identify the cause for the ongoing border crisis, but most of ours here in Washington haven't a clue. In an interview with Time on Wednesday, and then again in a press conference on Thursday, Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez blamed the lack of clarity in U.S. immigration policy as the true cause for enticing hundreds of thousands of Central Americans to cross the U.S.-Mexico border illegally.
In response to his statement, you can expect the pro-amnesty champions -- Pres. Obama, Sen. Chuck Schumer, and the like -- to race to the nearest microphone in their call for "comprehensive immigration reform", but in reality, U.S. immigration law is pretty clear:
Any alien who enters or attempts to enter the United States without inspection shall be put into removal proceedings. But in 2011, the Obama Administration issued a set of memos, the "Morton Memos", that deferred any action against many classes of illegal aliens, and in 2012, his DACA directive granted work permits to younger illegal aliens.
And just this week, it was reported that 18 of 20 newly-arrived illegal aliens failed to show up for their immigration court hearing in Dallas. Again, U.S. law requires the aliens to be ordered removed if they fail to show for a hearing, but instead, Judge Michael Baird, who replaced a tougher judge earlier this year, granted new hearings for all 18.
The law is clear, but few in Washington acknowledge it or want to acknowledge it. Instead, the House working group formed by Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) focused their recommendations this week on a 2008 law that deals solely with the processing of Unaccompanied Alien Children. We agree that the 2008 law needs to be changed, but it only addresses a fraction of the problem. According to the New York Times, only 1 in every 5 illegal border crossers this year is a UAC -- and it may be even less since the definition for UACs is being incorrectly applied by the Administration.
More than a dozen lawmakers in Washington, including the duo from Texas (Sen. John Cornyn & Rep. Henry Cuellar), have offered their own rewrites to the 2008 law. But only Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), and a handful of cosponsors, have legislation that gets to the root of the problem -- the Obama Administration's granting of amnesty to large classes of illegal aliens. The Cruz/Blackburn bills would end Pres. Obama's 2012 executive amnesties and prevent future ones from taking effect. Don't forget that Pres. Obama has already promised to expand his 2012 directives to cover 5-6 million illegal aliens later this year.
Even Gang of Eight member, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), has came around after meeting with officials from Honduras and El Salvador.
Because the recent wave from Central America spiked after DACA was announced, it is in our interest to wind down this program.

-- Sen. Rubio on Thursday
Has Speaker Boehner come around? Based on reports of today's morning meeting, he's more focused on the recommendations set forth by the House working group and less on confronting Pres. Obama and his unwillingness to enforce immigration laws.
Your efforts in this fight continue to be amazing and have had an effect in moving the dialogue in Washington! Our focus this week was much more on phone calls since the situation is more urgent. Congress is scheduled to break at the end of next week for its month-long August recess, and Speaker Boehner will likely want to pass something before the break.
Please call your three Members of Congress and urge them to oppose any border plan that doesn't include a provision to end Pres. Obama's executive amnesties. We're also posting new faxes to your Action Board as we learn about new bills and cosponsorships, so continue to check your Board on a regular basis for any actions.

I am a Silver Member

USCCA
Peace of mind is just a click away...
Dear Responsibly Armed American,

A lot can happen in 20 minutes…

Last night I received this email from a good friend,
and I think it’s worth passing on to you...

=====================
Hey Tim,

Last night my brother-in-law accidentally set off our security
alarm, and I missed the confirmation call, so the police were dispatched.

The response time was 20 minutes!

It got me thinking...

If it was a break in for the sake of stealing my stuff,
they would have really “made out like bandits.”

However, stuff can be replaced…

But what if it was a dangerous home invasion?

Just imagine…

Up to 20 minutes of protecting my wife and kids.

20 minutes to organize my young family, and shield
them against whatever those felons might throw at us.

20 minutes to stop the threat.

Tim, you know I can shoot a gun pretty darn well.

But I’ve been laying awake at night
running scenarios over and over in my head...

And I have to admit, I don’t want to ever be forced to shoot someone.

Never.

The thing is, I’m NOT afraid to do whatever is necessary to protect my loved ones.

Any logical person who cares about his family will do that.

Mostly, I’m afraid of what happens after I shoot someone.

Frankly, legal stuff scares me.

I don’t trust our elected officials or the current legal system.

So when you sent me that email - the one about how you now
provide members with up to $1.1 million dollars of protection…

A huge weight was lifted off my shoulders.

So I just want to take the opportunity to thank you.

Thank you for protecting us financially, for protecting
our rights, and for being a true American.

All the best,

WK
