BUST the Banners

"It is saddening to see the President today, once again, try to take advantage of this tragic murder to promote an agenda that will do nothing to stop violent crime, but will undermine the constitutional rights of all law-abiding Americans. I am committed to ... use any procedural means necessary to protect those fundamental rights." - Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)

Conservative American,

The best way to stop gun-control is to prevent it from taking a vote in the first place.

The Senate is the battleground, and what happens there in the coming days will make or break the outcome of upcoming gun-control legislation.

With Congress returning from their spring work recess on Monday, this fight over the Constitution will soon become a reality.

We know that the Feinstein Ban - as it existed as a bill - is a fact no more; however the very provisions it contained will be likely offered as an amendment to whatever "compromise" legislation at the end of the day.

Reid's very own bill - S. 649 - may very well be the bill the gun-grabbers have been waiting for -- the gun-control bill packaged in such a way that it is able to get the votes it needs to pass ...

Regardless of a bill's name, number, or sponsor one thing remains a fact: any gun-control legislation must be blocked if we want to keep our Second Amendment as we currently enjoy it.

The good news is this: right now, there is a conservative faction within the Senate GOP that is fully committed to blocking any attempts to legislate-away our right to "keep and bear arms."

A filibuster is coming...

Take action and fax members of the Senate demanding that they OPPOSE the motion to proceed on gun-control legislation!

Our pro-gun allies taking a stand in Congress' upper chamber are none-other than Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX), Mike Lee (R-UT), and Rand Paul (R-KY).

These three conservative Senators expressly stated in a letter to Majority Leader Harry Reid that they will "oppose the motion to proceed to any legislation that will serve as a vehicle for any additional gun restrictions."

"We, the undersigned," says the letter, "intend to oppose any legislation that would oppose on the American people's constitutional right to bear arms, or on their ability to exercise this right without being subjected to government surveillance."

The letter continues, "The Second Amendment to the Constitution protects citizens' right to self-defense. It speaks to history's lesson that government cannot be in all places at all times, and history's warning about the oppression of a government that tries."

Already this year we have seen the filibuster - a real filibuster - at work. Remember Rand Paul's thirteen-hours on the floor over the question of whether or not the President believes it is OK to use drone-strikes to kill American citizens on American soil?

But three Senators willing to filibuster are not enough - we need thirty-eight more!

We must demand that all pro-gun Senators get behind Sen. Cruz, Lee, and Paul's efforts to completely stop anti-gun legislation in its tracks. We must make sure that the Reids and Feinsteins in Congress don't see victory!

Take action and fax members of the Senate demanding that they join Sens. Cruz, Lee, and Paul and OPPOSE the motion to proceed on gun-control legislation!

In response to Obama's anti-gun cheerleading last week, Sen. Lee said,

"The proposals the president is calling for Congress to pass would primarily serve to reduce the constitutionally protected rights of law-abiding citizens while having little or no effect on violent crime. It is deeply unfortunate that he continues to use the tragedy at Newtown as a backdrop for pushing legislation that would have done nothing to prevent that horrible crime."

Further, Sen. Cruz said:

"In any conversation about how to prevent future tragedies such as Sandy Hook, our focus should be on stopping criminals from obtaining guns. Unfortunately, the Obama Administration has failed to make this a priority - in 2010, out of more than 15,700 fugitives and felons who tried to illegally purchase a firearm, the Obama Justice Department prosecuted only 44. That is unacceptable.

Simply put: Obama and the gun-grabbers' gun-control efforts are not only unconstitutional, they are misguided and dangerous. Preventing law-abiding citizens from exercising their Second Amendment rights only makes towns and cities that much less safe.

Gun-grabbers are pushing for universal background checks, mental health checks, and outright bans on certain guns and clips. Some of them want to mandate a type of "gun-owners insurance," while others want to tax ammunition out of our hands.

This is all to say that we have a major fight on our hands - and Senate is the arena where we must see victory!

With Democrats in the majority and enough RINOs who may be willing to support "common sense" gun-control measures, it is high time to make our voices heard. We must win as many Senators as possible and have them commit to stand with Cruz, Lee, and Rand against gun-control by promising to oppose the motion to proceed on any and all gun-control bills!

April will likely be the month that determines whether or not the Second Amendment as we know it is upheld our hollowed-out by overzealous "public servants."

The time for action is now!

Take action and fax members of the Senate demanding that they join Sens. Cruz, Lee, and Paul and OPPOSE the motion to proceed on gun-control legislation!

P.S. The Senate is stacked against us seeing that that it is run by mostly Big Government Democrats, many of them vehemently opposed to an armed citizenry. Despite this fact, we must make every effort to rally Senate members to stand-up for gun rights by filibustering up-and-coming anti-gun legislation. Take a minute and send free messages to your Representative and Senators - tell them to oppose any and all gun-control bills! Select here.
