LIFE is precious

For thousands of years, human civilizations have struggled with this most fundamental question about the value of human life:

Is innocent human life so precious a gift that it cannot be taken by another?

Societies that have come down on the side of life have generally thrived, their citizens enjoying a better chance of living good and fulfilling lives.

Societies that have chosen to disregard the basic right to life have almost universally broken down into chaos and cynicism.

Chaos like the kind we’ve seen in recent acts of senseless mass violence.

And the deepest, most destructive kind of cynicism that is at the root of abortion “freedom” run amok, inevitably leading to a Kermit Gosnell in Philadelphia, charged with brutally killing seven babies born alive after abortions and a 41-year-old mother.

The fight for the right to life is so much bigger than the media will admit.  It’s about saving every life we can, yes.  But it’s also about what kind of society we and our children will spend our lives in.  Can we trust that our laws and customs and popular culture will nurture the value of each of the people we care about – young and old?  Or are we just disposable “products,” liable to be killed or left to die because an abortionist, or a terrorist, or a bureaucrat trying to cut costs in a national health care program wants us dead?

At National Right to Life, we see both the immediate term – saving every baby we can now; and the big picture – creating a culture that treasures your life, and mine, and those we love.  Because without such a culture, everyone is at risk.

In the immediate term, we’re passing every law we possibly can that will save lives and that the Supreme Court will uphold.  In the last three years, we have passed record numbers of pro-life laws in the states, and a ninth state is about to enact our landmark Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which bans abortion when an unborn baby becomes capable of feeling pain.

We are also fighting to win the broader culture for life.  Recently, National Right to Life began running TV ads to inform more Americans about the fact that many unborn babies can feel pain.  We will soon expand that campaign to radio, e-mail and internet spots, and you can be a part of that with your gift to the National Right to Life Committee.

In other words, you can help us build the Culture of Life we so desperately need!

Please help us accomplish that with a generous contribution to National Right to Life today.  In the next couple of days, we will e-mail a video of our ad – a message Americans need to see.  But please don’t wait to enable us expand our campaign.  The news we see every day tells us we can’t wait!

Thank you for helping us build a Culture of Life by faithfully supporting our life-saving work.  Gifts of any amount  $500, $100, $50 – will help us win the hearts and minds of more Americans and save even more innocent, precious human lives.

For being on the side of life . . .  Thank you and God bless you!
