The Gates of Vienna Are Wide Open – Conquest By Other Means
September 4, 2013 By Don Feder Besides the anniversary of the 2001 World Trade Center attack and the murders of four Americans in Benghazi last year, September 11 also marks the 330th anniversary of the beginning of the battle of Vienna in 1683, which stopped the Islamic advance in Europe – temporarily. But where Ottoman armies failed, Muslim immigration, homegrown terrorism, demographic jihad and multiculturalism are succeeding. The combined forces of the Holy Roman Empire and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth – under the command of the Polish King Jan III Sobieski – lifted the Ottoman siege begun two months earlier. The battle marked the turning point in the 300-year struggle between Christendom and the Ottoman Empire – itself an extension of a European war that started almost a thousand years earlier, with the Umayyad conquest of Spain in the 8th century. Within a few decades of the battle, the Ottomans had lost most of their European domains. Viennese bakers celebrated their deliverance with what came to be called the croissant, a pastry in the shape of the Muslim crescent. Take a bite out of Islam? Today, sans uniforms or siege engines, Islam’s armies are on the march across Europe. On May 22, in the London neighborhood of Woolich, two Muslims hacked to death and tried to behead British soldier Lee Rigby. The killers made no attempt to escape. Waving a bloody machete, one shouted at bystanders: "We must fight them as they fight us…. You people (Brits) will never be safe." Prime Minister David Cameron resolutely declared, "We will never give in to terror or terrorism." Cameron added that the murder wasn’t just an attack on the British way of life, but "a betrayal of Islam." "There is nothing in Islam that justifies this truly dreadful act," Cameron intoned – no doubt based on his extensive knowledge on the Koran and Hadith, after a lifetime of study. Rumor has it he’s memorized most of the Suras in Arabic. At a procedural hearing, accused Michael Adebolajo (who missed the memo on the incompatibility of terrorism and Islam) kissed a copy of the Koran and asked the judge to address him as "mujahid" – Arabic for "fighter" or "warrior." Private Rigby is another casualty in a global conflict – where one side wields machetes and plants bombs, while the other mouths inane clichés. On Armistice Day in 2010, while Englishmen were laying wreaths at monuments to their war dead, Muslim protestors in London waved signs that said "British soldiers burn in hell" (for fighting the civilizing influence of the Taliban in Afghanistan) and "Allah is our protector. And you have no protector." The British police blame such incidents on the English Defense League, for making Muslims feel bad about themselves by pointing out the obvious connection between the religion-of-bloody-machetes and acts of barbarism. In "The Story of the Malakand Field Force," Winston Churchill, who experienced the business end of Islam in Afghanistan’s borderlands and the Sudan, wrote that, unlike Christianity: "The Mahommedan religion increases, instead of lessening, the fury of intolerance. It was originally propagated by the sword, and ever since, its votaries have been subject, above the people of all other creeds, to this form of madness." The man who faced another totalitarian threat half-a-century later referred to Islam as "the religion of blood and war." In Cameron’s Britain, Churchill would be hauled before a human rights tribunal and charged with inciting religious hatred. In the U.K. and Western Europe, tolerance is a one-way street. During the 2010 Christmas season, a group called Islam4UK plastered London with posters blaming the holiday for sexually-transmitted disease, rape, abortion and teen pregnancies. The posters disclosed: "In Islam we are protected from all of these evils. We have marriage, family, honor, dignity, security, rights for man, woman and child" – also honor killings, clitorectomies and the gang-rape of infidel women, prevalent throughout Scandinavia. Sweden now has the second highest number of rapes in the world. Roughly 85% of the perpetrators are foreign-born, coming from such bastions of human rights as North Africa, the Middle East and South Asia. Regarding the anti-Christmas posters, Sister Christine Frost, founding member of an East London charity, observed: "If we said such things about Muslims, we’d all be hanging from lamp-posts." When a constituent told her that a Dutch-Turkish politician was quoted in a local newspaper remarking, "We reject freedom of speech because we reject democracy" and "What you need is a heavy bomb attack," Rotterdam City Councilor Bouchra Ismaili sputtered: "Listen well, you crazy freak. We are here to stay! You are the foreigners here!! With Allah on my side, I fear no one. Let me give you some advice: Convert to Islam and find peace at heart!" In Egypt, Muslims find serenity by burning Coptic churches. Across the continent, as Muslim populations rise, the clash between savagery and civilization intensifies. The French government has identified 751 no-go zones – euphemistically labeled "Sensitive Urban Zones" – neighborhoods where the state has de facto ceded authority to radical clerics and street gangs. In a newspaper interview, Germany’s Chief Police Commissioner Bernhard Witthaut confirmed: "Every police commissioner and interior minister will deny it. But of course we know where we can go with a police car and where, even initially, only with the (armored) personnel carrier." More than three centuries after the gates of Vienna held, Europeans have abandoned Christianity, lost control of major portions of their cities and achieved a fertility rate of 1.5 for the EU as a whole (70% below replacement), while European Muslims are busy having children, building mosques and asserting their sovereignty. Cameron’s contribution to sagging British fertility was pushing same-sex "marriage" through Parliament this year. In a 2005 report by the Swedish-based World Values Survey, 55% of Brits and 60% of French said they "never" or "almost never" attend church services. In continental Europe, churches have become the haunts of elderly women. Of London’s Muslim population, 88% say religion is an important part of their daily lives, as do 68% of Muslims in Paris, versus 36% of British and 23% of the French in those cities. The war for Europe’s future is being lost in the bedroom. In 2010, the U.K Daily Mail reported that Mohammed (various spellings) was the most popular name for baby boys in the Britain and Wales. In 1900, Muslims accounted for 12.3% of the world’s population. In 2011, it was 23.4% and growing. Britain’s fertility rate is 1.91; 1.93 in the U.S. In Iraq it’s 4.3 and 7.1 in Afghanistan. Make love and jihad? Germany now has more Muslims than Lebanon. Muslims are 25% of the population of Marseilles and Rotterdam, 20% in the Swedish city of Malmo, 15% in Brussels and Birmingham and 10% in London, Paris and Copenhagen. By 2020, every third child born in Europe will be a Muslim. An absolute majority isn’t necessary to shape a country’s destiny. Supported by pandering politicians and a compliant media (following Rigby’s murder, Britain’s Channel 4 announced that it would broadcast the Muslim call to prayer throughout the month of Ramadan), dedicated minorities can wield disproportionate influence. While Europe is flooded by Muslim immigrants, another minority is fleeing the continent that was its home for two millennia. The chief rabbi of the Netherlands warns, "The future for Dutch Jewry is moving to Israel." With 60,000 Muslims, Malmo (Sweden’s third largest city) is hell for its remaining 700 Jews, whose synagogue and kindergarten resemble fortresses. In Toulouse last year, another betrayer of Islam shot and killed four Jews in an attack at a day school, including an eight-year-old girl. In a recent poll, 38% of Muslim youth in Austria agreed that "Hitler had done a lot of good for the people." Apparently, a sizeable minority of young religion-of-peaceniks believe something in Islam justifies the Holocaust. Strange. Americans shouldn’t be too smug – European decadence and all that stuff. Five weeks before Private Rigby was butchered on a London street, Chechen refugees Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev planted two pressure-cooker bombs (loaded with ball bearings and other shrapnel) near the finish line of the Boston Marathon – killing three, including an eight-year-old boy, and wounding 264. More than two dozen lost limbs. The Fort Hood shootings (2009) and Boston Marathon bombings (2013) are bookends around Obama’s sacrifice of public safety to the gods of political correctness. On August 28, Army psychiatrist Major Nidal Hasan was sentenced to death for the shooting spree that left 13 dead. Hasan, who had business cards made proclaiming himself a "Soldier of Allah," and shouted "Allahu Akabar" as he pumped round after round into his comrades, took complete responsibility for the massacre, telling a military court: "The evidence will clearly show that I am the shooter." Besides blaming the U.S. for the deaths of innocent terrorists in Afghanistan, Hasan was also outraged by our refusal to accept "the law of Allah (Sharia) to be the supreme law of the land." The administration continues to classify Hasan’s rampage "workplace violence." Following the shootings, then Army Chief of Staff General George W, Casey, Jr. said that as bad as the deaths of 13 soldiers in his command were, "It would be an even greater tragedy if our diversity becomes a casualty." Diversity, multiculturalism and sensitivity are white flags the West waves at Islam. Their message is received loud and clear. Before the atrocities, both Hasan and the Tsarnaev brothers were individuals known to the authorities. But wrapped tightly in a straight-jacket of political correctness, the FBI didn’t act until after the fact. In 2012, after Director Robert Mueller met with representatives of the Muslim community/Brotherhood, the FBI purged 876 pages from it training manuals that characterized Muslims as prone to religious violence. In Boston, the Bureau was too busy doing outreach to the extremist mosque the Tsarnaev boys attended to pay attention to Russian intelligence warnings about the brothers’ radicalization. What Islam couldn’t win by force of arms 330 years ago, it’s achieving through immigration (the Muslim world is exporting its surplus population where it will do the most damage), demographic jihad, complicity of the elite, intimidation and cynical pleas for tolerance. To paraphrase Simon and Garfunkel: "Where have you gone Jan Sobieski? A continent turns its lonely eyes to you (woo, woo, woo)."
