RE: Sponsor of anti-initiative bill now opposes the bill and any changes to the initiative process

To his credit, Republican Brandon Vick, one of the original co-sponsors of anti-initiative bill HB 2552, has listened.
In an email yesterday to one of his constituents, he wrote: "I have listened very carefully to my constituents, and I have agreed to oppose any future legislation that may alter the Initiative process. There is a legitimate argument to be made that any changes could lead to a slippery slope in which the Initiative process would actually be undermined. I am happy to take that advice and act accordingly."
This is phenomenal news. Thank you Brandon for being open-minded and considering your constituents' concerns about this legislation.
Republican Hans Zeiger, who originally voted yes, is also now opposed to the bill.
These two legislators deserve our praise and our appreciation. They chose their constituents over the special interests.
The other Republicans who originally backed the bill should also reconsider, especially in view of the overwhelming opposition raised by their constituents, newspapers, talk radio advocates, and the ACLU.
Ask them: "How can you defend this bill now? Even the sponsor has disavowed it."

In the email to his constituent, Brandon also wrote: "I wanted to let you know that HB 2552 will not become law in 2014."
If that's true, it is because of the voices raised by our thousands of supporters. This is a huge victory and all of you deserve the credit for the bill's rejection.
Congratulations!
