Dad's wisdom
Tune in to the Sunday morning Sermon last Lord's Day at TLBC. Hear it here
-----A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be very liberal, and among other liberal ideals, was very much in favor of higher taxes to support more government programs, in other words redistribution of wealth.
She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch conservative, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.
One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the need for more government programs.
The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school.
Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many college friends because she spent all her time studying.
Her father listened and then asked, How is your friend Audrey doing?
She replied, Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on campus; college for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung over.
Her wise father asked his daughter, Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.
The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired back, That's a crazy idea, how would that be fair! I've worked really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!
The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, Welcome to the conservative side of the fence.

Progressive Spending
LIKE BIG DADDY in D.C. -
Spending by the Democrats in Olympia is out of control.
Total budgeted spending is set to increase by some $3 billion for 2011–13.
This builds on increases of:
$2.4 billion for 2009–11,
$8 billion for 2007–09
$7 billion for 2005–07
Since 1999–01 --Total budgeted spending has increased 66%.
Source: Publications / Policy Guide for WA / Policy Guide for Washington State, Washington Policy Center
Below are recommendations from the Washington Policy Center
· Adopt performance-based, Priorities of Government budgeting to control the rate of spending growth and create more sustainable budgeting.
· Place requirements for performance outcomes directly into the budget.
· Require that updated four-year budget forecasts be tied to quarterly revenue forecasts or to the adoption of a new budget.
· Adopt a 72-hour budget timeout.
· Require that completed fiscal notes be made available before bills can be acted on.
· Permanently repeal unaffordable programs instead of temporarily suspending them
· Provide the governor with discretionary authority to cut spending when revenues fall short of projected amounts.
· Set aside a five percent reserve when adopting the biennial budget.
We need to elect a Republican Governor, three more Republican State Senators and 8 more Republican State Representatives. 12 in 12
Bottom Line: Let’s keep reminding voters of these over-spending Democrats

Dear IRS
The only thing worse than filing your taxes this year is the fear of how much more you might be forced to pay next year under a Democrat Senate.
Fight Back.
Every step of the way, the Democrat Senate has been little more than an “enabler” with Obama’s agenda to increase taxes and an ever-increasing federal government.
Tax after tax and fee after fee, BHO and Senate Democrats have been bleeding the American taxpayer dry, while our economy is on life support. Small business owners need to keep more of their hard-earned cash so they can hire new employees and bolster our economy.
Two years ago Democrats took to holding town-hall meetings across the country to drum-up support for a government takeover of the health care industry, known as Obama-care with the help of outfits like AARP. They said it wouldn’t cost more. But the facts say something different.
- Obamacare contains 20 new or increased taxes; an increase of $500 billion.
- It will cost $1.76 trillion over the next ten years, over double what was promised.
- After Obamacare passed the cost of your healthcare premiums increased by 9%.
- Americans without insurance has risen to 17.1%.
- 23 million will remain uninsured under Obama-care.
- Obama-care cut Medicare coverage by $500 billion.
By contrast, the Republican Senators drafted a plan to repeal Obama-care and pass a budget that will cut government spending, cap future spending, and pass a balanced budget amendment. Support their efforts every way that you can.
In a struggling economy, it is hardly the time to raise taxes on anyone. Especially hard-working small business owners and entrepreneurs who will be the backbone of our economic recovery.
As the tax deadline passes today, please join efforts to halt the dangerous Obama agenda of more spending, more taxes, and more government intrusion into more sectors of our economy.

The light turned yellow just in front of him. He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection.
The tailgating woman was furious and honked her horn, screaming in frustration, as she missed her chance to get through the intersection, dropping her cell phone and makeup.
As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up..
He took her to the police station where she was searched, fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a holding cell.
After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door.
She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was
waiting with her personal effects.
He said, "I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front of you and cussing a blue streak at him.
I noticed the 'What Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the 'Choose Life'license plate holder, the 'Follow Me to Sunday-School' bumper sticker, and the chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk, so naturally . . . .
I assumed you had stolen the car."

12 in 12
12 in 12 stands for electing a Republican Governor, three more Republican State Senators and 8 more Republican State Representatives in Washington State.
Our fiscal house in Olympia is broken. Every year the state brings in more money than the previous year. Yet they tell us they have to cut. What they are really doing is funding new Democrat spending functions while cutting education and furloughing workers. Just look at spending increases over the last 10 years.
10 year comparison-- inflation-adjusted spending vs. population increase
Total spending increase greater than the Population Growth.
1999-2001 0%
2001-2003 4.04%
2003-2005 4.04%
2005-2007 6.68%
2007-2009 8.51%
2009-2011 9.59%
Bottom Line: Let’s keep reminding voters how the Democrat-run Administration is destroying our economic future in Washington State and in America.

He answers
The young man had lost his job and didn't know which way to turn. So he went to see the old preacher. Pacing about the preacher's study, the young man ranted about his problem. Finally he clenched his fist and shouted, "I've begged Jesus to say something to help me. Tell me, Preacher, why doesn't Jesus answer?"
The old preacher, who sat across the room, spoke something in reply -- something so
hushed it was indistinguishable. The young man stepped across the room. "What did
you say?" he asked.
The preacher repeated himself, but again in a tone as soft as a whisper. So the young man moved closer until he was leaning on the preacher's chair.
"Sorry," he said. "I still didn't hear you."
With their heads bent together, the old preacher spoke once more. "Jesus sometimes
whispers," he said, "so we will move closer to hear Him."
This time the young man heard and understood.

Broken Promises
Presidential incumbents historically win or lose on the unemployment rate and their political promises. On the second anniversary of Obama care let’s review the promises.
11 “broken promises” made by Pres. Obama and the Democrats about the sweeping health care law: --For each Democrat promise, the Republicans cite news articles showing how it was broken. http://www.senate.gov/general/search/search_cfm.cfm?q=11+broken+promises&site
‘If You Like Your Plan, You'll Be Able To Keep It’
‘I Will Protect Medicare’
‘This Law Will Lower Premiums’
‘Slow The Growth Of Health Care Costs’
‘Federal Conscience Laws Will Remain In Place’
‘My Plan Won’t Raise Your Taxes One Penny’
Mandate Not ‘The Solution’
‘Broadcasting Those Negotiations On C-SPAN’
‘Will Not Sign It If It Adds One Dime To The Deficit’
Medical Liability Reform: ‘This Is Going To Be A Priority For Me’
‘Those Who Voted For Health Care Will Find It An Asset’

Christ is Precious
We believe Christ established His local New Testament Congregation during His earthly ministry, commissioned her and her alone with the three fold commission of Matt.28:16-20 and gave her the promise that He would be with her even until the end of this age. He accredited her as the house of God for this age on the day of Pentecost once for all as He did the Tabernacle and the Temple in days of old. The primary message of the Lord's true New Testament local congregations is CHRIST is the one and only way of salvation. Biblical Immersion, like the one Christ had at the hands of God's heavenly authorized agent, is the first thing a true believer out to do in obedience to Christ after publicly declaring a genuine salvation experience by the sovereign grace of God. Service thereafter should always be under the authority of one of His true New Testament Congregations.
