R-74 News Update

Two important news items. September 28, 2012
Dear Marriage Supporter,

I have two important news updates to share with you.

#1 - Just today, the Daily News Online released an editorial headlined, “New same-sex marriage
law sets dangerous precedent.” The piece outlines why their Editorial Board stands in opposition
to Referendum 74:

"We don't want to see an environment where churches are compelled to perform or
recognize marriages they have determined should not be permitted."
The editorial highlights an important point that we must remember: When marriage is redefined to
be a genderless institution, anyone who does not uphold the new legal definition of marriage is
subject to legal consequences – even if such refusal is due to personal religious beliefs.

#2 - As you know, Minnesota is also fighting to preserve marriage as the union between one man
and one woman in November. The Star Tribune in Minnesota published an article today headlined,
“Why same-sex marriage affects my marriage.”

Take a minute and read through why same-sex marriage CANNOT exist alongside traditional marriage.

Thank you for standing with us in the effort to preserve marriage.

With your support, we will end this race in victory on November 6.
Standing with you in the fight,
Joseph Backholm, Chairman
