Championing Pastors to Transform America
Dear Pastor Killion,

The National Day of Prayer (NDP) is this Thursday, May 2nd, 2013. Below is a reminder about a special online men's event tomorrow, May 1, 10:00 till Noon, EDT.

First let me apologize for a factual error in the hurried letter I sent you Friday. I rushed because I wanted you to have the information in your hands before church on Sunday. Correction: It was NOT President Dwight D. Eisenhower who signed the National Day of Prayer into law in 1952; but Harry S. Truman. Yet, President Eisenhower kept up the momentum. In 1954, under Eisenhower, "Under God" was inserted into the Pledge of Allegiance by Joint Resolution of Congress and in 1956, still under Eisenhower, Congress resolved to adopt "In God We Trust" as our national motto.

But this pro-faith momentum ebbed. The "God is dead" movement appeared in the 60's and the feminist and sexual revolutions in the 60's and 70's. Faith continued, but momentum declined. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled school prayer and display of the 10 Commandments unconstitutional but abortion and homosexual conduct constitutional rights. Now studies show a radical decline in both faith and morality. Yet - the prayer movement is growing steadily. Many churches are endeavoring to become "Houses of Prayer" as Jesus said they should. Denominational, multi-church and para-church prayer groups and events are multiplying. God has not abandoned America and the growing prayer movement is evidence. This is not a fad.

The National Day of Prayer has been a kind of anchor to the growing prayer movement. Of course prayer is the key to Revival in our churches and Awakening in our nation (Key Scriptures: Dt 28: all, 2 Chr 7:14; Joel 2:12-18; and 1 Tim 2:1-8).
Tomorrow, Wednesday, May 1, at 10:00 AM EDT, we will welcome to FRC, Calvary Chapel Pastor Greg Laurie, National Day of Prayer 2013 Honorary Chairman. We will also welcome members of the National Prayer Committee, Dr. James Dobson, Founder of Focus on the Family and Family Talk, and other key leaders in the movement. I hope you and your church men will join us.
  • You and they can register to view the event here.
  • Church Bulletin - The National Day of Prayer Task Force (NDPTF) and FRC have prepared a special National Day of Prayer church bulletin that you can still use. Please download it here for your midweek service. The Men's Meeting archive video will be online for viewing after the event.
