Senator Mike Carrell
passed away on the morning of May 29, 2013 in his sleep, surrounded by
his wife, Charlotte, family and friends. He was 69 years old and had
been battling a blood disorder called myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS),
also known as pre-leukemia, since early this year. Our hearts and
prayers go out to his family and friends.
Senator Carrell was
from Lakewood in Pierce County and proudly served the 28th District as a
Republican. He was a very good man who had a tremendous servant's
heart. He began his service as a school teacher. Then upon retirement
from his 30 year career, he began serving his community as a Washington
State legislator in 1995 until his death.
He was a
great friend to us at the Family Policy Institute of Washington and
families across the state, a tremendous pro-lifer and defender of
parental rights and religious freedom.
Now we have the
opportunity to give back to Senator Carrell. His insurance did not
cover all the bills of his costly medical treatment. Please consider
lifting this burden from the Carrell family and helping them pay these
bills by contributing to a fund that was set up by his friends. You may
do so by going to helpmikemedical.org.
We could say much
more about the amazing work ethic, perseverance, dedication and
wonderful acts of Senator Carrell. You may learn more about this
generous man at the above website. He will be deeply missed.
