Tips from Freedom Foundation

TLS Center for Liberty White Header1
Dear Larry,

Is our government keeping secrets from us?

Last week, the Washington Supreme Court made it much easier for our governor to hide information from the public. In an 8-1 decision, the Court decided Washington's governor has the power of "executive privilege" and can conceal documents at will.

The only solution left is for our legislators to pass a state constitutional amendment in the next legislative session. That bill would then go on next year's ballot, giving Washington voters the chance to add strong open-government principles to our State Constitution.

We launched a new petition to urge our legislators to introduce this constitutional amendment.

Will you please sign it?

Former Attorney General Rob McKenna (who promised as a candidate for governor never to use executive privilege if elected) just shared his support for this kind of constitutional amendment on his blog at Smarter Government Washington. We'll need his help and much more to get the legislature to consider such a bill next year.
Can you please pass this email on to your friends and family and ask them to sign the petition?
Thank you for your support. When we all work together, Freedom wins!

Sincerely,
