Your Letter to Congress

November 27, 2013

Dear Representative Kilmer,
Dear Senator Cantwell,
Dear Senator Murray,

In total violation of the Fourth Amendment, the National Security Agency has been monitoring and storing "hundreds of millions" of Americans' digital metadata held by "Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Facebook, PalTalk, AOL, Skype, YouTube, and Apple." (See: See: Gellman, Barton and Laura Poitras. "U.S., British intelligence mining data from nine U.S. Internet companies in broad secret program." Washington Post. June 2, 2013.)

It's time for you and your colleagues to act and stop the NSA's lawbreaking by passing reform legislation to end their warrantless, sweeping, and unconstitutional surveillance activities.

To this end, I ask that you co-sponsor the bi-partisan "Uniting and Strengthening America by Fulfilling Rights and Ending Eavesdropping, Dragnet-Collection and Online Monitoring Act" -- the USA FREEDOM Act -- sponsored by Reps. Justin Amash, John Conyers, and Jim Sensenbrenner. I ask that you urge your colleagues to do the same.

A bipartisan effort, the USA FREEDOM Act would: end warrantless mass surveillance; provide Congress access to FISA Court opinions, ending "secret" law; modify gag order policy allowing companies to publish NSA requests; and, establish a "privacy advocate" to defend Americans' rights in the FISA Court.

With the NSA’s misinterpretation (abuse) of law – providing them “allowance” to spy on anyone anywhere – it’s clear this legislation is needed to start ending government’s ugly, unconstitutional surveillance programs

Moreover, I ask that you oppose Feinstein's FISA Improvements Act as it is a "fake fix" -- the Feinstein bill does not provide the NSA reforms currently needed. (See: https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2013/11/floor-not-ceiling-supporting-usa-freedom-act-step-towards-less-surveillance)

Defend the Constitution always.
Less Government Power & More Individual FREEDOM.
I am watching you actions.

Sincerely,

Mr. Larry Killion
