HB 1448
Regarding Telemedicine & Webcam Abortions
SummaryHB 1448 would have allowed medical professionals to be paid for telemedicine. Telemedicine is the use of electronic communications to allow a medical professional to consult with a patient and prescribe medication remotely. It is generally supported as a way to reach people in rural areas with medical care.

However, it is a problem when it is used to remotely administer abortion drugs. Drugs that chemically induce abortion have been known to cause death and frequently cause severe abdominal pain. It is especially troubling that these drugs could be prescribed remotely to minors without their parents awareness and without being near medical care in the event of complications.

Planned Parenthood has supported telemed abortions in many states as a way to expand their abortion business. That is why FPIW Action opposed this otherwise good bill. Rather than pass the portions of the bill everyone agreed upon, advocates for the abortion industry chose to kill the bill and deny improved access to care to everyone since it couldn't be used for abortion.

THANK YOU FOR TAKING ACTION!
The most helpful way to support the Family Policy Action is to be a monthly partner. Our work providing accountability and advocacy on behalf of the family would not be possible without you.
