I hope you all have a
wonderful Memorial Day weekend.
Marion and I went over to the Jackson Street overpass over Hwy 16 this morning to honor a veteran. His remains were unclaimed and stored in the Kistap County Morgue. A group called "Combat Veterans International" agreed to form an honor guard for the fallen hero and escort him to Tahoma National Cemetery where he was laid to rest per his wishes with his fellow patriots. Several Biker Vets were there in the procession. Marion and I were on our post for a little less than two hours waving the Stars & Stripes. Many waves, thumbs ups, salutes, horn honks etc. were given in support. The police cars and motorcycles all sounded their sirens for us when they passed under Old Glory. This evening we are having Hot Dogs BBQ with our Kids & Grand-kids. Tomorrow is the Lord's Day and I pray for His blessings on my ministry at TLBC. Monday we will relax as usual (RETIRED) :-)
Front part of the procession as they came across the Narrows Bridge.
Road Guard Patrol
Lead Patrolmen
More Motorcycle Escort
Patrol Car and Escort for the fallen veteran in the dark vehicle
More Escort from Motorcycle Clubs
The procession went for several miles coming across the Bridge into Tacoma from Pt. Orchard.
I held Old Glory high and stood at Present Arms as the procession passed under. We did not attend the ceremonies at the burial. I always get a lump in my throat with the 21 gun salute and the echo of taps across the grounds. Our arthritis was starting to kink in pretty good by then too. Thankfully, it was not raining.
