What a shame

the Presbyterian Church U.S.A.

Dear Larry,
On Friday, the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. voted to divest from stocks in three companies --
Caterpillar, Hewlett-Packard and Motorola  -- which sell products to Israel.  It was a sad day.

This vote will have little practical significance.  The Presbyterian Church U.S.A. has fewer
members than CUFI.  And they are shrinking just as quickly as we're growing.

But this vote will have symbolic significance.  By singling out Israel for condemnation, the
Presbyterians will encourage the very forces that have prevented peace in the first place.
This vote sends a dangerous signal that there is no price to pay for refusing to compromise
with Israel -- if conflict persists, only Israel will be blamed.

Worst of all, this vote will send a message to Israel that
America's Christians are abandoning her.

We know that nothing could be further from the truth.  We know that the overwhelming
majority of America's Christians stand firmly with Israel.  But our Israeli friends won't know
encourage her.  Let's start today!
Blessings to you and those you love,
