Anti-Hobby Lobby Bill FAILED

Attempt to overturn the SCOTUS ruling on
Hobby Lobby FAILED.

By Dave Jolly

Liberals, feminists and socialists reacted strongly to the Supreme Court ruling in favor of Hobby Lobby and Conestoga Wood Specialties. Some of them reminded me of biblical characters who tore their clothes and covered themselves in ashes as they wept in sorrow.

Senate Democrats were bound and determined to overturn the Supreme Court ruling by passing a new bill, they call ‘Not My Boss’s Business Act’ that would force employers to provide contraception coverage to their employees by preventing them from using a religious-freedom law to opt out. They care nothing about the religious values of anyone. All they care about is pushing their socialist health agenda down everyone’s throats without caring if we choke on it or not.

If they are calling their bill the ‘Not My Boss’s Business Act’, that means they are saying that it’s none of the employers business to get involved in women’s healthcare or contraceptive choices. So if it’s none of their business, why should they have to pay for it? It doesn’t make sense to force someone to pay for something that’s none of their business, does it?

In the arguments that took place on the Senate floor, Republicans reminded the Democrats that in the current Obamacare laws employers cannot prohibit or restrict women from accessing contraception, it’s just that those with sufficient religious objections should not have to pay for it.

Senate Democrats needed 60 votes to pass the measure. They came up short with a 56-43 vote. Three GOP senators, Mark Kirk (R-IL), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Susan Collins (R-ME) voted with democrats. Surprisingly, Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid voted against the bill, but said he did so in order to revive the bill before year’s end.

GOP Senators Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) and Deb Fischer (NE) introduced a bill that would uphold an employer’s right to object for religious reasons from having to pay for controversial contraception coverage.
