“Pro-Gun” Politicians and the “Bloody Streets” of Chicago... BY TIM SCHMIDT - USCCA FOUNDER |

According to the Washington Examiner,
“Former Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis, in her first
interview after losing by 20 points to governor-elect Greg Abbott,
admitted she only claimed to support an open-carry gun law in order to
win votes.”
Wait. Did Davis really admit to...lying?
Well, not exactly. She skirted around the issue a bit, claiming that she
supports “people’s right to own and to bear arms in appropriate
situations,” but that she “made a quick decision on [open carry] with a
very short conversation with [her] team and it wasn't really in keeping
with what [she thinks] is the correct position on that issue.”
Surprising?
Not at all.
Par for the course, actually, when it comes to how most anti-gunners operate.
The encouraging news is that the good people in the state of Texas
weren’t fooled. As mentioned above, she suffered a crushing defeat
against Republican candidate Abbott.
It may sound harsh...but it serves her right.
You see, more and more often we’re witnessing anti-gunners willing to do
almost anything to get what they want. They’ll lie. They’ll use scare
tactics. They’ll change their entire philosophy at a moment’s notice. Anything to push forward their agenda.
If you look back in recent years, there has been more than a handful of
so-called “pro-gun” legislators running for office who have turned out
to be virulently anti-gun.
But it’s not just politicians. It’s people next to us in church. People
behind us in line at the coffee shop. People at our kids’ schools and
people at our workplaces (well, at least I don’t have that problem).
Sometimes it happens quietly, sometimes not so quietly, but it’s
happening everywhere: people spreading their hate for all things guns.
And so...what do we do?
As most responsibly armed Americans are use to (and fond) of saying:
“Let’s look at the facts.”
Ironically, the city of Chicago provides a good example. Think of all
the anti-gunners predicting concealed carry to be nothing more than
“blood on the streets.”
According to Joe Gallo, Deputy Chief with the Champaign Police, “For us,
[concealed carry] has been a non-event.” Josh Campbell of the Danville
Police agreed, noting that “when you’re talking concealed carry, it’s
mostly your law-abiding citizens, who don’t cause problems anyway.”
Here’s the bottom line: We mustn’t allow anti-gunners to lie their way to infringing on our freedoms.
Keeping Davis out of the governor’s seat in Texas and keeping blood off the streets of Chicago are good starts.
After all, the truth hurts...but only the bad guys.
