Student Punished for Saying ‘God Bless America’

A
student in the Nassau County School District in Florida has been
reprimanded for saying, “God bless America,” as he finished reading the
morning announcements. Two students who identify themselves as atheists
objected to the phrase. School officials said the principal “took the
appropriate steps in speaking with the student and disciplining the
student” for deviating from the approved script.
Instead
of going to the administration themselves, the two offended students
reported the incident to the American Humanist Association (AHA) who
sent a letter to the school that read, in part:
