RE:  What's it worth to you to be permanently protected from Olympia's insatiable tax appetite?

In 2007, we sponsored Initiative 960, reinstating the 2/3.  Even though opponents spent $1.3 million, voters passed it by a comfortable margin.  The benefit of its' passage was immediately felt:  in 2008 and 2009, despite overwhelming Democrat control of the House, Senate, and Governorship,
Olympia didn't raise a single tax.  Not one.  They wanted to -- boy, they definitely wanted to.  But during those 2 years the 2/3 forced them to prioritize spending, reform government, and use existing revenue more effectively.  And that was with Democrats in charge of Olympia.

The 2/3 works.  It protects us from
Olympia's insatiable tax appetite.  It stops them from imposing new taxes (like state income taxes or capital gains taxes or carbon taxes) and it stops them from increasing existing taxes (like sales taxes or property taxes or business taxes or gas taxes).

Let's make that policy permanent.  Let's become the 18th state to have this policy enshrined in its state Constitution.  And once it's there, politicians can't take it away.  It's forever.  Pass it one time and it's for all time.

The scariest thing about government is their ability to take more of the people's money whenever they want.  Every legislative session, politicians are wined and dined by all the Public Interest Groups ("PIGs") that get the money the government takes from us.  Taxpayers need the extra protection that the 2/3 provides.  Without it, the PIG's win and the taxpayers lose.

The 2/3-For-Taxes Constitutional Amendment Initiative is the most exciting, impactful, needed initiative we've ever done.  But we need everyone's help to make it a reality.

We have from now until July 2nd to get over 320,000 voter signatures to qualify our critically important initiative for the ballot.  That's over 2000 signatures PER DAY!  That's a huge mountain to climb.  That's why we've already hired professional signature collectors to help.  That's why we need you to donate.  That's why we need your help gathering signatures for the next few months.  There are plenty of voters who are eager to sign our petitions -- we just need to give them every opportunity to sign.

Let me be absolutely clear:  success is the only option with the signature drive for I-1366.  Please help us make it happen.
