I’ve mentioned a time or two in the past—and I continue to stand by my opinion—that moms, by their very nature, often make the best protectors. Think about it: How many moms do you know who would literally sacrifice everything—including their own lives—to keep their loved ones safe?

When I think about what really defines a mom, a few qualities come to mind: Nurturing. Confident. Caring. Loyal. Unselfish. Strong.

But the one characteristic that stands out more than any other is that almost all moms are fiercely loving. And this fierceness—this incredible and instinctual love—is what drives them to protect their children and families above all else. It’s something I saw (and still see) in my own mom. It’s something I see in my wife (the mother to our three beautiful children). And it’s something I see in responsibly armed women all across the country.

This is why I believe that moms who carry weapons for personal defense are perhaps the most powerful force for good we have. And this is why I can tell you that it wasn’t a coincidence that we decided to hold our first ever USCCA Concealed Carry Expo on Mother’s Day weekend.

You see, I’m positive that the Expo will appeal to a wide variety of people—men and women of all ages and levels of experience—but I’m especially hoping it will serve as a way to celebrate and honor responsibly armed moms! They certainly deserve it.

Here are a few things to look forward to:

USCCA Concealed Carry & Personal Protection Permit Class - Women Only
Sunday, May 10, 2015 - 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM

Sorry, guys...this comprehensive firearms safety and concealed carry class will provide women with the training necessary to apply for their Wisconsin CC permit. (If you’re a mom, the class is 100% FREE.)

I’m also excited to announce that we’ll have a live range running all weekend long where you can test out a wide variety of guns that we’ll have on-site from brands like Kahr, FNH, and Walther, just to name a few...

Of course, you’ll be allowed to carry at the event, as long as you are in compliance with state firearms laws and the Expo Firearms Policy, found here.

My hope is that the USCCA Concealed Carry Expo becomes a celebration of the concealed carry lifestyle and a foundation of the concealed carry community; a place where people from all walks of life with all levels of skill can come together with a shared goal—to show the world how passionate and dedicated a group of responsibly armed men and women (and moms!) can really be.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Take Care and Stay Safe,
