Your gift to protect family and freedom is more crucial now than ever!

Dear Larry,

With the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling that same-sex marriage is now a “right,” we Americans of faith need to give some thought to how we’ll respond.

But before I offer some thoughts, I hope you’ll consider standing with CitizenLink now with your online gift to defend religious liberty.

With each $50 you give, you’ll reach 100 pro-family Americans who care deeply about protecting marriage, but who might not take action without your help.

In light of last week's decision, I’ve come to 3 conclusions:

First, I think we can all agree our government should not discriminate against people of faith.

Second, I think we can also all agree our government shouldn’t force Americans to violate their beliefs about marriage.

Same-sex couples are free to live and love however they want. But a Christian florist who believes marriage is between a man and a woman should also be free to run her business how she wants.

That’s tolerance. And that’s what America is all about.

At least until last week.

And third, I think we can all agree that every child deserves the best opportunity we can give them to be raised by a married mom and dad. Friday's ruling puts the government’s stamp of approval on intentionally depriving kids of either a mom or a dad.

Here’s the crucial question we must answer.

Now that same-sex marriage has been forced on us, we need to answer this crucial question: Is there any tolerance left for those whose faith still teaches that marriage is the union of a man and a woman?

My faith IS me. And your faith IS you. In America, nobody has the right to ask you or me to violate our deeply, genuinely held religious belief. That’s the America I know.

And that’s why I believe churches, pastors, Christian schools and nonprofit ministries should be free to recognize and act according to only God’s design for marriage, without government interference or loss of their tax-exempt status. Will that change now that same-sex marriage is the law of the land?

What’s more, this decision will change what’s taught in public schools. The full weight of our government will now be given to indoctrinating our children that same-sex marriage is the equivalent of marriage between a man and a woman. Parents are going to have to make some tough decisions about their children’s education.

The First Amendment gives us the right to live our lives and run our businesses according to our beliefs. That’s why your CitizenLink team is working to create space in the public square for Christians — including you — to live out their faith.

As I email you, CitizenLink, along with our state-based partners, is working to pass the strongest possible religious freedom legislation in each state. The goal is simple: to protect you and others who hold unswervingly to God’s design for marriage.

The battle isn’t lost. With your support, and God’s grace, we have hope.

As Christians, we must earnestly call on God for His intervention in our nation and then take action. To strengthen our own marriages. To speak the truth in love. And to protect our religious freedom.

Please join with CitizenLink now — both in prayer and financially. With each $50 you give online now, you’ll reach 100 pro-family Americans who care deeply about protecting religious freedom, but who might not take action without your help.

Help protect religious freedom — for yourself, your family and all Americans — by giving online now as generously as you possibly can. The need is both grave and urgent.
