I liked the old paths, when Moms were at home. Dads were at work. Brothers went into the army. And sisters got married BEFORE having children! Crime did not pay; Hard work did; And people knew the difference. Moms could cook; Dads would work; Children would behave. Husbands were loving; Wives were supportive; And children were polite. Women wore the jewelry; And Men wore the pants. Women looked like ladies; Men looked like gentlemen; And children looked decent. People loved the truth, And hated a lie; They came to church to worship, Not to be entertained! Hymns sounded Godly; Sermons sounded helpful; Rejoicing sounded normal; And crying sounded sincere. Cursing was wicked; Drugs were for illness; And divorce was unthinkable. The flag was honored; America was beautiful; And God was welcome! We read the Bible in public; Prayed in school; And preached from house to house To be called an American was worth dying for; To be called a Christian was worth living for; To be called a traitor was a shame! Preachers preached because they had a message; And Christians rejoiced because they had the VICTORY! Preachers preached from the Bible; Singers sang from the heart; And sinners turned to the Lord to be SAVED! A new birth meant a new life; Salvation meant a changed life; Following Christ evidenced eternal life. Being a preacher meant you proclaimed the word of God; Being a deacon meant you would serve the Lord; Being a Christian meant you would live for Jesus; And being a sinner meant someone was praying for you! Laws were based on the Bible; Homes read the Bible; And churches taught the Bible. God was worshiped; Christ was exalted; And the Holy Spirit was respected.. Church was where you found Christians on the Lord's day, rather than in the garden, at the camp site, on the golf course, fishing or being entertained somewhere else. I still like the old paths the best!

THE OLD PATHS
I liked the old paths, when Moms were at home. Dads were at work. Brothers went into the army. And sisters got married BEFORE having children! Best "JOKE" of the year...
A Somali arrives in Minneapolis as a new immigrant to the United States. He stops the first person he sees walking down the street and says, "Thank you Mr. American for letting me in this country, giving me housing, food stamps, free medical care, and free education!" The passerby says, "You are mistaken, I am Mexican."
The man goes on and encounters another passerby. "Thank you for having such a beautiful country here in America!" The person says, "I not American, I Vietnamese."
The new arrival walks further, and the next person he sees he stops, shakes his hand and says, "Thank you for the wonderful America!" That person puts up his hand and says, "I am from Middle East, I am not American!"
He finally sees a nice lady and asks, "Are you an American?" She says, "No, I am from Russia!" Puzzled, he asks her, "Where are all the Americans?" The Russian lady checks her watch and says...
"Probably at work."

There was a sweet spirit in our prayer meeting services last night at TLBC. We are still praying about a possible missionary endeavor with regard to organizing a sister church in the Ukraine. For more details please look at the prayer request (Pastor's possible trip to the Ukraine) on the prayer page of our church website. http://thelordsbaptistchurch.com

Two Timely Quotes from years gone by
We are looking into the possbiity of adding some sermons to our church website that can be viewed via streaming media. More to come on that.
============================
"It appears we have appointed our worst generals to command forces, and our most gifted and brilliant to edit newspapers. In fact, I discovered by reading newspapers that these editor/geniuses plainly saw all my strategic defects from the start, yet failed to inform me until it was too late. Accordingly, I am readily willing to yield my command to these obviously superior intellects, and I will, in turn, do my best for the Cause by writing editorials - after the fact." - Robert E. Lee, 1863

"Congressmen who willfully take actions during wartime that damage morale, and undermine the military are saboteurs and should be arrested, exiled or hanged." ~ President Abraham Lincoln

Getting back to normal
Our Missionaries to Ireland made it back home OK and so did our guests from Texas, Oklahoma and California. Things were getting back to normal in our services today at TLBC. I resumed my study on the five points of tulip. Today's sermon outline is on the front page of our church website: http://thelordsbaptistchurch.com/
I'll be traveling to Troy, Michigan this Tuesday for the Bible Conference there at the Covenant Baptist Church where Bill Senich is Pastor. Tommorow I have an appontment with the Chiropracter and am hoping he can relieve my sciatic pain for the trip. I'd appreciate your prayers if you are one of the few who have access to the throne room of our sovereign God.
Now that school is started for another year it won't be long before colds and the flu will be going around everywhere. I have only had ONE cold since I started taking the Life Force products back in the summer of 2003. I highly recommend that you try a free sample of Body Balance by clicking the link below. For the free sample, you will need to agree to pay for the shipping and register for an auto shipment. I'd love to have you as one of my loyal customers. http://tinyurl.com/9c36q

No Free Lunch
There was a Chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Prof noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt. The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government. In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, " Do you know how to catch wild pigs?" The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke."You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in The last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd. Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity. The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America. The government keeps pushing us toward communism/socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. while we continually lose our freedoms- just a little at a time. One should always remember "There is no such thing as a free Lunch!"

Eating Right.
My blood pressure was high, my cholesterol was high,
and I'd gained some weight.
My doctor said eating right doesn't have to be complicated
and it would solve my physical problems. He said just think
in colors; fill your plate with bright colors; greens, yellows,
reds, etc.
I went right home and ate an entire bowl of M&M's and
sure enough, I felt better immediately.
I never knew eating right could be so easy.

We had another good day in church today at TLBC.
My sermon was on "Unconditional Election" and the outline
is on the front page of our church website:

Our Ireland Missionary family is due back from their trip to
Kentucky this Tuesday. My uncle LJ leaves early Wednesday
morning on Amtrak and the Ellis family will fly out of SeaTac
for Ireland that evening.
I'm presently communicating with a brother in Christ in the Ukraine.
Without giving a lot of details I'll just say that there is a good possibility
that I may be taking a trip to the Ukraine before the end of the year.
=================================
I haven't done much on my home biz in the last couple of weeks but that
is one of the nice things about it.
I STILL got a check in the mail anyway.

Our grandson Bailey also had his first day in the first grade
and as you can see he is very proud of it.
More to follow.
