GOP update

Bob’s Update 7 November
Bob Lawrence Pierce County Republican Chair
Good  Morning,
We are all heartsick over the presidential election.
But make no mistake this administration clearly:
  • Owns the national debt
  • Owns the deficit
  • Owns the anemic growth
  • Own a growing list of tax increases
  • Owns ‘Fast and Furious’
  • Owns the Libya tragedy
  • Owns the shrinking military
  • Owns the Iranian nuclear program
  • Owns the failed Arab spring

Voters for Obama obviously believe and look to a strong central government for assistance.

Unfortunately, there is no more money even with their envisioned new taxes.  We already owe 25% more per capita than the Greeks, who are now rioting in the streets.

We have made progress since 2008.  Clearly just a shade under half of the country are with us as opposed to 2008 where Obama had a 7.6% advantage. We now have 29 Republican governors. We control the House of Representatives 242 to 193 and the Senate is not filibuster-proof as we have 47 Republicans vs. 53 Democrats.

Statewide the races are not over.
For example:
Right now Rob McKenna trails by 50,000 votes with 1.9 million counted but we still have over 1.2 million votes yet to be counted.
We have teams that will go after ‘challenge’ ballots to make sure every vote is counted for our candidates..

In Pierce County we continue to become redder than we were before the last election. Rob has a clear lead in Pierce County.
For three elections in a row Pierce County has added more Republican state legislators to Olympia.
We replace two term limited Republicans on the county council with new Republicans. Thus we kept our super majority on the County Council.
For the 2008, 2010 and 2012 elections voters in Pierce County rejected tax increases.

So what do we do?
·        First, we do not give up on fighting for the constitutional principles that made this country great.
·        Second, we offer as the loyal opposition ideas and programs to help our country.
·        Third, we get ready for an impending fiscal crisis as individuals, families and groups.
·        Fourth we prepare for the 2014 congressional and senatorial races.  Make no mistake 2014 will be a repeat of the 2010 elections.
·        Finally we work to become even more organized and effective in order to support the great Republicans who will run in 2014 and 2016.

We may have lost a battle here and there but we will never give up fighting for our country, our state and our county.

 Bob Lawrence
              Chairman Pierce County Party
