Dear Fellow Patriot, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and the Democrats have just shown how radical and power-hungry they truly are. We cannot and we must not let them get away with this clear abuse of power. Late last week, Majority Leader Reid changed the Senate rules and exercised the so-called"nuclear option" - a tactic that eliminates the minority party's ability to filibuster almost all presidentially appointed nominees. In other words, he has breached 225 years of tradition and radically altered the way the Senate does business to expedite the implementation of his radical big government agenda. In so doing, he has broken the promise he made in 2011 to "oppose any effort in this Congress or the next to change the Senate's rules other than through the regular order." And he did it all so he could silence the voice of Senate Republicans and effectively shut half of the American people - including YOU - out of the debate over whether or not to confirm Barack Obama's political and judicial appointees. With this rule change, Harry Reid has vastly expanded the Democrats' power. They now have carte-blanche to appoint and confirm any radical leftist they choose to almost any position of power in America. And there's only one way to stop them... ... We MUST win back the Senate and restore proper Constitutional order! True, Senator Reid and the Democrats may be able to confirm any progressive that President Obama appoints in the next twelve months, but if we succeed in retaking the majority in 2014 - and I fully intend on doing so – we will show these power-hungry Democrats how principled Senators treat the sacred trust bestowed on them by the Constitution and the American people. Majority Leader Reid needs to feel the repercussions of this power grab. He needs to experience the consequences of defying the natural restraints our founding fathers established. Above all, he must see, sense and know that the American people will not stand for such an abuse of power. And with your help, he will. You see, Majority Leader Reid promised years ago that he was "not talking about changing the filibuster rules that relates to nominations for judges." He gave his word that the filibuster would remain an option for the Senate minority party, and that our voices would not be silenced. And yet, just a few days ago he broke his promise, chose the "nuclear option," and shut Republicans out of the debate completely. Well, the Democrats may have won for now, but their victory will be short-lived. The left appears to have the upper-hand, but I am convinced the American people will have the last word. And soon! With Obamacare's myriad failures becoming obvious to the American people, President Obama's approval rating dropping to a record low, and millions of Americans tragically being stripped of their health insurance, the Democrats' days in power are numbered. With your help, and the help of grassroots patriots all across the country, we WILL take back the Senate next year. We WILL right the many wrongs of this administration. And we WILL begin implementing a conservative reform agenda that will set our nation back on a path to a better, brighter future.
