RE:  JAY INSLEE:  "I would veto anything that heads the wrong direction and the wrong direction is new taxes in the state of Washington," Inslee said.

JAY INSLEE:  "No, I am not going to propose taxes.  I do not believe they're right for the State of Washington."

SEATTLE TIMES:  At the news conference, Inslee made a clear promise to veto tax increases.  "I would veto anything that heads the wrong direction and the wrong direction is new taxes in the state of Washington," Inslee said.

Candidate Mike Lowry said "taxes only as a last resort" and proposed higher taxes on his first day.  Gregoire in 2004 said "now is not the time to raise taxes" and radically increased taxes in the 2005 legislative session.  Gregoire in 2008 said "I'm not going to be raising taxes" and then took away the 2/3 protection and raised taxes $6.7 billion.

The 2/3 Constitutional Amendment Initiative is critically needed because politicians can't be trusted.  They always promise to not raise taxes ... and that promise lasts only the day before they raise taxes.

After voters approved our 2/3 initiative in 2007, Olympia didn't impose any tax increases in 2008 and 2009.

The 2/3 works.  It makes tax increases an absolute last resort.  And that's what voters want.

Since politicians' tax promises are worth nothing, the people need something else.  We need Initiative 1325.  Once we pass the 2/3-for-taxes constitutional amendment, we'll be protected FOREVER.

Please help us ensure its success.
