Will you send $10 this month to help fellow citizens fight the border surge?
Storming of our southwest border was spurred by talk of August amnesty and no deportations
Together, we can fight relocations in your state & change destructive policies
Dear friends,
There isn't much satisfaction in saying "I told you so" when being right means our nation is at such risk at the moment.
But when we met on your behalf with top DHS officials
in their headquarters office last month, we warned them. We said that
the Administration's statements and actions extolling the humanitarian
needs of illegal aliens and promising not to deport most of them were
threatening to create chaos on the borders.
They didn't change. And the chaos ensued.
What do we do next?
We
have to keep pushing everybody in government to send the right signals
to the rest of the world that we won't let them in without an
invitation.
1) You and we already have been mobilized into action over the last week of this crisis. And we
will be aggressively offering ways for our email and Facebook network
of nearly 3 million citizens to stop the dispersal of the most recent
illegal aliens across the country, possibly to your own community.
The
Associated Press reports today that government officials are admitting
that once younger border crossers are released into the interior, they
almost never leave.
2) Our continuing full financial support is keeping alive a two-year legal effort by immigration enforcement agents
who are challenging the Administration's right to unilaterally prohibit
various immigration law enforcement methods. The administrative
policies in violation of Congress-passed laws helped precipitate the
current border crisis. The federal judge who first heard the
case said the agents' lawyers made a convincing argument that the Obama
Administration is violating federal immigration laws. But the
judge said he couldn't issue a restraining order yet because the
immigration agents had not exhausted all administrative remedies.
So,the
agents have been going through the administrative grievances
process, while simultaneously appealing the decision to the Fifth Circuit
Court of Appeals. From the beginning NumbersUSA has made this judicial
challenge possible by promising the courageous agents that we will pay to take this as far as the Supreme Court -- if that is what it takes to protect the agents' ability to obey federal immigration laws designed to protect us.
Keep
in mind that part of the reason Central Americans are rushing the
border is that the Obama Administration has been sending signals that if
Congress doesn't pass an amnesty by August, the Administration will
just provide as much of an amnesty as possible on its own. It is this
kind of lawlessness that the immigration agents' lawsuit is trying to
prevent.
100% of the costs of NumbersUSA Action's grassroots pressure on
Congress has to be supported by the $10, $25 and $100 donations made
on-line or through checks in the mail by citizens like you. This is truly a grassroots effort without the support of foundations, governments or large individual contributions.
All
other educational, legal and media activities are provided by the
NumbersUSA Education & Research Foundation which is primarily
supported by wealthy donors. But IRS rules won't allow them to cover
all the costs. In fact, we can't accept those large donations unless
donors like you collectively give us a thousand dollars for every two
thousand dollars those major donors give us.
So
you see, I cannot overstate how absolutely essential it is that as many
citizens as possible donate at least something to keeping this
NumbersUSA activism and educational machine running.
