Obama not only won't keep his promise/threat to issue a giant executive amnesty by the end of summer (Sep. 21) but also won't announce anything before the November elections. We have to keep the pressure on Congress to lay the groundwork for the President to feel he has to retreat some more once the November elections are over. The phone calls and faxes and town hall appearances by all of you in the grassroots mobilization network were responsible for making the President so desperate that he would break a promise that he had made so publicly and so many times this year. The pressure on the Democrats in Congress has been the most important this last month. You frightened enough of them to effectively beg Pres. Obama to pull back from the amnesty for fear of election disasters. The best thing to do now is to constantly remind them that their constituents believe it is wrong to add any more foreign workers to compete with millions of unemployed Americans.
