Who cares....

Who cares what newspapers say?
We do (at least today we do :-)

What is not to love about the Columbian editorial board?  Well, yes, quite a lot.  But not yesterday.  They have consistently editorialized in favor of our initiatives requiring a 2/3 vote requirement for the Legislature to raise taxes.  They out did themselves on Wednesday.

         Here's some excerpts from yesterday's editorial entitled "In Our View: Two-Thirds is Voters' Will -- Legislature should take action to ensure supermajority on taxes becomes reality"

*  "
Five times in the span of two decades in 1993, 1998, 2007, 2010, and 2013 voters approved a two-thirds requirement for tax bills ... In 2012, Initiative 1185 was approved by 63.9 percent of voters a higher percentage than that received by legalized marijuana, gay marriage, or charter schools.  It was approved by a majority in all 39 counties, and by 70.3 percent of voters in Clark County.  But it was I-1185 that led the Supreme Court to impose the constitutional-amendment requirement."

*  "
In addition to legislative wrangling over the two-thirds requirement, the issue long has been a pet project of anti-tax crusader Tim Eyman.  This year, Eyman is gathering signatures for Initiative 1366"

*  I-1366 shouldn't be necessary "the Legislature should send such a proposal to the voters, with or without the Eyman hammer hovering over their heads; voters repeatedly have expressed their preference for a two-thirds requirement."

*  "Lawmakers likely would argue that the wisdom of requiring a two-thirds legislative vote on tax issues is open for debate. But in the minds of voters, the debate has been settled — repeatedly."

It is early, but we have great momentum for the 2/3-For-Taxes Constitutional Amendment Initiative:  we are all working hard to keep that momentum moving forward.  We are already "on the streets" with professional signature collectors but we need your help to keep them out there (that is why we need you to donate).  All contributions received this month are being matched dollar-for-dollar.  Please take full advantage of this extraordinary opportunity.

WE HAVE A "MARCH MATCH."  Your donations this month to Initiative 1366 are worth double:  a successful businessman has agreed to match dollar-for-dollar everyone's donations in March.

Please maximize your support for I-1366 by contributing RIGHT NOW.

The 2/3-For-Taxes Constitutional Amendment Initiative is the most exciting and needed initiative we have ever done.  However, we need your help to make Initiative
1366 a reality.

Let me be absolutely clear:  success is the only option with the signature drive for I-1366.  Please help us make it happen.

If you want to ensure the success of our new initiative, please send us a donation for $10, $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1000, $2500, $5000 or more (there are no limits on how much can be given).  You can go to our website right now - and make a secure on-line contribution by PayPal or VISA or M/C.  OR, you can print this form, fill it out, and return it with a check or credit card information.

We have done so many amazing things over the past 16 years, but that has only been possible thanks to generous benefactors like you.  We ask you to please help us help taxpayers.

         Please donate TODAY.

         Thank you.

Tim Eyman, Jack Fagan, & Mike F
