Dear Larry: One of my heroes, Ronald Reagan, often liked to say, "trust, but verify." He firmly believed in this principle and applied it to his friends, advisors — and even the media. At one time, I did too — but now I can no longer extend that courtesy to the mainstream media. And yet, as I call out the mainstream press on their lies and outright bias, I am pejoratively labeled by their liberal defenders as a "radical" and a "revolutionary." Well, if telling the truth in today's world is "revolutionary" then I view that label as a badge of honor. My background as a former Congressman from Florida and a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel, combined with my current calling as a political commentator and perennial thorn in the side of liberals, taught me the importance of standing up for our Constitutional Republic — and its fundamental principles. Because of this, I am reaching out to you today on behalf of Accuracy in Media, the nation's premier media watchdog, and asking you to join me in supporting their dedication to relentlessly exposing the epidemic of media bias. Larry, as I reflect on today's news coverage, the central theme to me is the perpetuation of "lies and deceit" by the mainstream press. It's gotten to the point where ABC, CBS and NBC could be short for the "All BarackChannel," the "Constant Barack Station" and the "National Barack Channel." Do you agree? If left unchecked, the Media could do far more damage than they've already done. That's why AIM's work is more important today than ever before. Accuracy in Media was founded in 1969 by economist and former Marine intelligence officer, Reed Irvine, who, along with some concerned citizens, launched AIM to combat anti-American media coverage of the Vietnam War. Known and respected as the nation's first media watchdog, AIM has often been the lone voice in the wilderness, calling out the liberal media's misreporting and lies. Accuracy in Media's goal, then and now, is:
liberal progressive ideological assault on our country. They publish a twice-monthly newsletter that calls out important examples of media bias; issue calls to action, like the survey you are receiving today, and they also produce a large quantity of educational materials to raise public awareness about the media bias issue. Case in point: AIM's relentless pursuit of the truth broke one of the biggest Obama/media scandals wide open last year. On April 22, 2014 AIM Editor Roger Aronoff and the Citizens' Commission on Benghazi disclosed at a National Press Club news conference that America had changed sides in the War on Terror in 2011 and knowingly facilitated the transfer of arms to Al Qaeda. As long as AIM is able to call the mainstream media out for its fraudulent and dogmatic misrepresentation of the news, there is hope for our country's future. It is not an easy fight, and Accuracy in Media can't do it alone. They could really use your help. Please send your most-generous, tax-deductible contribution of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000 or whatever you can chip in to Accuracy in Media (AIM). Let me once again remind you of these prescient words, "In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act." As well as those of Sir Edmund Burke, "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing." Let's do something together. Let's tell the truth together. Let's be revolutionary together —support Accuracy in Media today. God Bless you all and our beloved America. Steadfast and Loyal, Allen B. West Lt. CoL Allen B. West (Ret.) U.S. Congressman, R-FL (2011-2013) CEO, National Center for Policy Analysis P.S. If you believe as I do that America is under attack today as never before, I have reserved some autographed copies of my recent book, Guardian of the Republic, for those of you who contribute $100 or more to Accuracy in Media. This book is a summation of my personal philosophy, much of it passed down to me by my father, whose advice about adhering to one's core values has given me the strength to speak truth to power. P.S.S. The days of treating the liberal media with Reagan's adage to "trust, but verify" are long gone. The Media's misreporting of the IRS Scandal, Benghazi, ObamaCare — and more — is proof positive of the media's hopelessly liberal slant. Let's keep holding their feet to the fire and put them on notice that we will NOT tolerate their lies and deceit.Send a tax-deductible contribution of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000 or more to Accuracy in Media today. |
