If there is one thing the left cannot tolerate at all, it’s a black man running as a conservative candidate for President of the United States.

Who can forget how they brutalized Herman Cain?

Dr. Carson knows how mean and nasty he and his family will be treated. Here is what he said to Fred Barns...

“It’s a daunting thing... I know how vehemently the left will come after you, try to destroy you, try to destroy your family. But at the same time I recognize that people like Nathan Hale - he said, ‘My only regret is I have but one life to give to my country’ ...And if everybody runs for the hills because they’re afraid that somebody is going to attack them or their family, then [the left] will have won.”

Ben Carson has the courage to run, and the talent needed to win.

That’s not just speculation.

In 2012 Herman Cain found out something shocking.

Cain’s internal polls showed that he was not only winning more than 40% of the black vote, but also more than 60% of the Hispanic vote!

The fact is that if any Republican candidate for President receives more than 17% of the black vote, no Democrat candidate for President, even Hillary Clinton, can win the White House.

The only explanation for the support that Herman Cain received is that both black and Latino voters identified with his rise from poverty to success.

While Herman Cain is a respected businessman, Dr. Ben Carson is a legend in the African American community.  For many, many years black children have learned the amazing story of Ben Carson’s rise from dire poverty to becoming a world renowned neurosurgeon.

	This Issue: House approves two pro-enforcement amendments; NDAA to be amnesty-free

On Thursday, the House of Representatives approved two immigration-enforcement amendments to the Commerce, Justice, and Science spending bill. Both amendments were offered by Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) and passed mostly along party-lines with a few Republicans digging in their pro-amnesty, anti-enforcement heels, and a few Democrats, facing tough races in the fall, attempting to show their constituents that they don't stand with the rest of their caucus on the issue. Rep. King's first amendment would reallocate $5 million to the Justice Department for the sole use of investigating a recent report from the Center for Immigration Studies that found the Administration had released more than 36,000 criminal illegal aliens from custody while awaiting deportation. The amendment passed, 218-to-193, with Democratic Reps. Barber (AZ), Barrow (GA), Lipinski (IL), Peterson (MN), and Rahall (WV) voting in favor of the amendment. It's further evidence that, despite some media reports, Members of Congress in toss-up districts need to support immigration enforcement rather than side with amnesty advocates. Rep. King's second amendment is one that's offered nearly every Congress and would deny funds appropriated to the Justice Department from being used to reimburse municipalities that provide sanctuary to illegal aliens. The amendment passed 214-to-194. The House is in recess next week, but in the next few weeks, Leadership will likely bring to the floor the spending bill for the Department of Homeland Security. We should see votes on several immigration amendments to that legislation. NO AMNESTY IN NDAA Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.), who chairs the Senate Armed Services Committee, has announced that Senate Democrats will not include Rep. Jeff Denham's (R-Calif.) ENLIST Act in the Senate version of the National Defense Authorization Act. This is a significant victory considering House GOP Leadership supported Denham's effort to include his military amnesty in the NDAA. What's maybe more interesting, though, are the comments from Gang of Eight spokesman Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.): We are not going to go along with minor fixes that fail to address the huge systematic problems of our immigration system today. ... If the oil is leaking in your car, your muffler has a hole in it, and you have a flat tire you don't change the windshield wipers. But that's what they want to do with this ENLIST Act. Republicans are barely even considering that, but it doesn't even scratch the surface of our immigration system. Sen. Schumer claims that he provides a voice for the 11-18 million illegal aliens living in the United States, but he's made it clear that he's not interested in passing legislation that grants amnesty to just one segment. Sen. Levin's decision coincides with an announcement by the Obama Administration stating that it's delaying a review of deportation policies until later this year. The administration worries that taking further steps to curb even more deportations would provide House Republicans with more reason to not act on immigration reform. We've all heard the adage, "What you reap is what you sow"—meaning actions (or inactions) have results, and sometimes consequences.
The same can be said for your vote on Election Day. One vote can have a ripple effect for years to come.
Often, when we prepare to cast our vote for a candidate for U.S. president or U.S. senate, we forget these future elected leaders will determine the judges who sit on our nation's federal courts. And in states where judges aren't elected, the governor and state legislature are usually involved.
To put this into perspective, consider this statistic:
Over the course of eight years, a two-term president will appoint around one-third of the nation's 900 federal judges to fill positions left vacant by attrition or retirement.
That's roughly 300 unelected, unaccountable federal judges who rule on a range of issues impacting your daily life, including your religious freedom.
And not all federal judges hold to the same philosophy—not by a long shot.
Conservatives generally favor judges who believe the U.S. Constitution should be interpreted to mean what the Founders understood it to mean. Liberals, however, often favor judges who believe in a "living Constitution" that's interpreted in light of changing trends and morality. These two judicial philosophies are in direct conflict.
A recent example of this philosophical "tug-of-war" happened in the town of Greece, N.Y., where the U.S. Supreme Court re-affirmed the right of city councils and other public bodies to begin their meetings with prayer. That decision was by a razor-thin 5-4 decision and split along conservative/liberal lines.
The freedom to pray in the public square was upheld by a single vote! So you see, your one vote does carry weight, and elections do have consequences.
Within the next few weeks, the Supreme Court justices will, once again, rule on another important religious freedom issue. In the Hobby Lobby and Conestoga Wood Specialties cases, the justices will decide whether business owners must give up their religious rights when they decide to earn a living. Will we be in for another 5-4 ruling? And will the ruling be in favor of religious freedom?

The Forced Amendment: 

Dems Push for Constitutional Re-Do

Senator Chuck Schumer is a lot of things -- but James Madison, he is not. Don't tell that to the New York Democrat, who, along with Sen. Mark Udall (D-N.M.), thinks he understands freedom better than the author of America's Bill of Rights. Two hundred twenty-three years after the First Amendment went into effect, Senate liberals are trying to put an expiration date on political speech. While most Americans were firing up their grills last weekend, Sen. Udall was lighting a match under Senate Democrats to get a vote on his Joint Resolution 19. And if it's successful, the National Archives will need more than bomb-proofing to protect America's founding documents.

Four years after the Supreme Court struck down restrictive campaign finance laws, the Left is still smarting. A summer away from a reelection bloodbath, Democrats know they can't hide from their records -- but they can try to silence the people talking about them. That's the aim of S.R. 19, which would essentially strip political speech out of the First Amendment and put it in a separate legislative box where Congress (the targets of that speech) can regulate it.

"The real guarantee," explains the Wall Street Journal editors, "would be political advantage for all incumbents, since it's the sitting lawmakers who really benefit from any law limiting contributions to candidates or on their behalf." Of course, even the Founding Fathers understood the temptations of putting elected officials in charge of these basic freedoms, which is why they slipped in this key phrase: "Congress shall make no law... abridging the freedom of speech..."

Now, Congress -- with the help of lawless Democrats -- seeks to do exactly that, hoping to keep their flimsy grip on the Senate majority. Under Udall's bill, Congress would have the "power to regulate the raising and spending of money" on campaigns and candidates, undermining voters and minimizing the influence of their opponents. Super PACs, which have virtually no limitations for election spending, are the Left's biggest bulls-eye, followed by other outside groups.

Interestingly enough, the measure goes out of its way to protect the freedom of the press (which is no big surprise, considering whose side they're on). But, as the WSJ points out, "Why should [liberal] Warren Buffett's company enjoy free speech rights because he owns a handful of newspapers along with insurance companies, while Jeffrey Immelt's is muzzled because GE makes jet turbines?" Democrats insist the debate is about accountability -- when in reality, it's one of the most transparent plays for job security Harry Reid's 

Senate has ever attempted.  

Amending the Constitution requires a two-thirds majority in both chambers and the approval of three-quarters of U.S. states. Even so, Majority Leader Reid isn't giving up any time soon. The Democrats' top dog already promised a string of votes on the measure after its first Judicial Committee hearing next Tuesday. Even after the Left lost its bid to change the IRS rules on lobbying groups, the open season on conservatives continues. No longer content to just ignore the law, the President's party is ready to blow holes in the Bill of Rights. But if the public outcry is any indication, they've picked the wrong fight.

Government Considered Using Military to Defeat Cliven Bundy

If you thought it was illegal for the United States military to be used against American citizens, the current administration disagrees with you. According to the Washington Times, the White House considered calling out the military to deal with Cliven Bundy.  Happily, they didn’t do so, but they could have.

A 2010 Pentagon directive on military support to civilian authorities details what critics say is a troubling policy that envisions the Obama administration’s potential use of military force against Americans.
The directive contains noncontroversial provisions on support to civilian fire and emergency services, special events and the domestic use of the Army Corps of Engineers.

The troubling aspect of the directive outlines presidential authority for the use of military arms and forces, including unarmed drones, in operations against domestic unrest.

“This appears to be the latest step in the administration’s decision to use force within the United States against its citizens,” said a defense official opposed to the directive.

Directive No. 3025.18, “Defense Support of Civil Authorities,” was issued Dec. 29, 2010, and states that U.S. commanders “are provided emergency authority under this directive.”

“Federal military forces shall not be used to quell civil disturbances unless specifically authorized by the president in accordance with applicable law or permitted under emergency authority,” the directive states.

“In these circumstances, those federal military commanders have the authority, in extraordinary emergency circumstances where prior authorization by the president is impossible and duly constituted local authorities are unable to control the situation, to engage temporarily in activities that are necessary to quell large-scale, unexpected civil disturbances” under two conditions.

The conditions include military support needed “to prevent significant loss of life or wanton destruction of property and are necessary to restore governmental function and public order.” A second use is when federal, state and local authorities “are unable or decline to provide adequate protection for federal property or federal governmental functions.”

“Federal action, including the use of federal military forces, is authorized when necessary to protect the federal property or functions,” the directive states.

So we came closer than we knew to seeing the military put down “civil unrest” in this country. I am not sure why that would be necessary with every federal department being armed to the teeth and SWAT teams occupying the country. But I am glad it did not happen. I hope Congress will legislatively ban this directive.
